Grand Teton National Park - August 29

Today we continued on our way.  We left small town of Arco, Idaho and headed to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  Here are some pictures of the drive.

A beautiful view of the Snake River.  Now I understand the slogan "Scenic Idaho".
The beauty of the Snake River continues for miles and miles throughout Idaho and into Wyoming
"Forever West" - There is a charm to the Old Western culture that is still alive and well in Wyoming and South Dakota.  For the next week Tamara and I were addicted to country music.  The yellow sign on the left was a bit worrying but the ol' Camry pulled through without a hitch.  Us frontiersmen can push through any challenge.
The little town of Jackson (seen in the background) is definitely a remnant of the Old West, complete with dirt roads, a general store, and a one room post office.
We we sure to leave Arco by 7 so that we'd have plenty of time at Grand Teton.  We arrived a bit after noon and didn't waste a second.
Setting up camp for the first time since Crater Lake.  Portland and Arco were necessary breaks since today is the first day of camping for seven nights in a row!
The Tetons.  One plate went up to form these while the other went down to form the deep valley of Jackson Hole (see picture below).
Throughout this trip we have seen many of the wonders our great country has to offer.
In front of Jenny Lake right at the foot of the Tetons.  The water is so clear it looks like they filter it.
Our hike led us around the lake to a remote waterfall.  This is the water flowing from the waterfall down the side of the mountain to the lake.
Tamara in front of Hidden Falls.

Our first animals! A herd of elk in the foreground with a herd of bison in the background.

The herd of elk was mostly females.  It was led by this alpha-male (he is basically an elk version of me) and several younger males.
The valley of Jackson Hole right below the Tetons.
In the national parks the bison rule the road.  These guys walked right in front of us!
